2017 Cascadia Series Winners!
Wow - what an amazing year of racing in the Pacific NW! With 9 adventure races ranging from 5 hours to 36 hours, the Cascadia series was certainly successful in creating some great competition among the region's teams.
It was an amazingly close race for the top spot in the coed elite category (where the prize $ is), with Team BendRacing/YogaSlackers edging out the young powerhouse Team Quest by just 5 series points. Coming in third was the up and coming Bend team YERT/NW Sufferfest team, just edging out Bend's Team Stoopid. Also notable were Seattle's Team Manny's in 5th, and Portland's Team Castelli in 6th. Both of these last teams were only able to race 3 of the 9 series events, and we can only imagine that they will be contenders for the podium in 2018 if they can align their schedules better to get to more races.
In the Open category, the top spot went to Team Cool Breeze, just ahead of Robin Smith (who raced many races solo). Third was Krank AR. Krank was one of the few teams that raced some races in the open category, and some in coed-elite, managing the podium in the open category, and 8th in the coed elite. Hopefully Krank can get a consistent team together to go for the prize $ in 2018.
A extra special nod to Team Quest for competing in 8 out of the 9 races.
2018 is going to bring some exciting changes to Cascadia Series too that will make it more competitive for many of the teams. It will also bring a simplified scoring structure.
